Manchester United are reportedly edging closer to signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer.
The Dutchman is currently completing his third campaign with the Catalan giants, and he could be on the move.
According to Goal.com, the Blaugrana need to make a big-money sale before June 30 in order to balance their books.
De Jong has been identified as the candidate to make way, and it is claimed that United could be firm favourites for him.
Earlier yesterday, journalist Gerard Romero said that there is a 95 per cent probability that De Jong will join the Red Devils.
The midfielder was previously valued at €80m, but he could now be available for a knockdown fee of around €60m.
De Jong has yet to decide on his future, but he could be tempted to reunite with manager Erik ten Hag, who was with him at Ajax.
The Dutch tactician has been confirmed as United’s permanent manager. He will officially take over from Ralf Rangnick from May 23.
