Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that he is ‘pretty worried’ for Granit Xhaka following the midfielder’s injury against Tottenham.
The 28-year-old sustained a leg injury during the final phase of the north London derby after Lucas Moura accidentally fell on him.
He was substituted after some brief treatment on the pitch. The Swiss was far from comfortable as he moved gingerly off the field.
Speaking after the game, Arteta confirmed that the injury blow for the midfielder, and said that it does not look very positive.
He told Arsenal.com: “Unfortunately he got injured. I’m pretty worried because it doesn’t look very positive at the moment.”
Xhaka recently served a three-match domestic suspension. He was immediately brought back to the line-up for the derby.
The midfielder produced a strong performance, and his key interception played a crucial part in the club’s second goal out of three.
Unfortunately, he suffered an untimely setback in the lead-up to Heung-min Son scoring a 79th-minute consolation goal for Spurs.
