Xavi has identified Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba as a top transfer target as he edges closer to becoming Barcelona’s manager.
The Spaniard is currently the head coach of Al-Sadd, but he is widely expected to take the hot seat at the Blaugrana following Ronald Koeman‘s dismissal.
According to El Nacional, Xavi has his sights on recruiting four players with one of them being Pogba, who has yet to sign a new deal at United.
The Frenchman has only eight months remaining on his existing contract, and there has been no progress over a potential renewal at the club.
The 28-year-old can negotiate a pre-contract with a foreign side at the turn of the year, and the Blaugrana are keen to take advantage of the situation.
However, they are not alone in the player’s pursuit and are set to face stiff competition from arch-rivals Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
With their dire financial situation, Madrid and Les Parisiens find themselves in a better position to lure Pogba with a significant wage package.
